Styers Ferry was the first place I was allowed to go to without my parents. Two miles up the road from our house in the country, there's not much left of the original Styers Ferry, just a little locally-owned gas station at a crossroads in the woods. As kids, my brothers and I would jump on our bikes and pedal fast and furious to see who could get down that long country road the fastest. The trip back though was more meandering, of course; no one was in a hurry to get back home. We'd stop to count sheep or horses in a pasture, see what things had fallen into the ditch, or explore a side road. If you'd asked me at twelve years old why we went to this run-down gas station, I would have told you something about buying a root beer and a B&G fruit pie. Looking back though, it was more than that: it was the adventure of being almost grown. When I look at this quilt, I see a similar passage represented, a crossing over from one end things to the next. My hope for this quilt is that it serves as a reminder not just to rush through life as a means to an end, but to also slow down and enjoy the passage as well.

The Styers Ferry throw quilt is made from Shot cotton, a fabric appreciated for its intense color, soft handfeel, and natural texture.Unlike most cotton fabrics which are dyed after weaving, Shot cotton is unique in that it's woven with two different thread colors, creating a deep and complex depth of color unmatched in other fabrics.

Approximately 60" x 85".
