How to choose your fabrics for a burial quilt
Burial quilts can be made out of any number of fabrics. I recommended that the fabrics you choose be:
- all-natural fibers like cotton, silk, wool, or linen
- laundered at least once, to wash off potential industrial chemical residue
Aside from those few specifics, the rest is up to you. I’ve sewn many kinds of fabrics into quilts:
- dress shirts
- pants, including jeans
- a ball cap
- work uniforms
- Boy Scout handkerchiefs
- school uniforms
- cloth napkins
- tablecloth
- bed linens
- pieces of cross-stitch
- embroidered work
