FAQ
Q. How long does it take to make a quilt?
A. All told, over a day of my life goes into each piece I do. My typical quilt tops take about twenty hours just to design and piece together. Then there’s five hours of quilting (if done by machine) and then another five hours for binding and finishing. Hand-quilting and hand-tying takes longer of course, as do more intricate, small-pieced designs.
Q. can you use any kind of fabric?
A. You sure can! I use mostly all repurposed fabrics reclaimed from old clothes, bed linens, and tablecloths. I use only woven material (think men’s dress shirt) and not knit (think t-shirt).
Q. how do i care for my quilt?
A. The best way to care for your quilt is not to wash it. When one of my quilts needs some freshening, a sunny spot outdoors for the afternoon is a traditional way. If you must wash your quilt, consider spot-cleaning. And if you really need to wash the whole thing, please wash on gentle, in cold or warm water (not hot) and spin dry. Stretch the quilt out flat outside or on a bed to finish drying. Hanging quilts to dry can lead to saggy fabric.
