A few tips on quilt care
When not in use, spread the quilt out on a bed instead of folding it up, even if you hide it under another bedspread. Folding can create wear lines over time.
Take your quilt outside once a year to get some fresh air. Spread it out in a clean area on a dry, overcast day. You can lay a bedsheet the top to prevent debris if that’s a concern.
Avoid drying quilts on a clothesline and this can stress the seams and cause distortions.
One can air-dry a quilt in the dryer on gentle/no-heat.
Vaccuuming is another gentle way to freshen up a quilt.
Avoid washing a quilt unless it’s absolutely necessary. Even on gentle, it can cause fading and hasten the wear on the fabric. If you need to wash it, try to spot-clean. If you need to wash the whole whole quilt, consider washing by hand in cold water with a gentle soap. Do not wring or twist your quilt to dry it. Instead, squeeze out the water and lay it out flat to dry.
